The Meridian Society elects new Board of Directors

At this year's AGM, held on January 30th at Ah King Restaurant, London WC1A, a new Board of Directors was elected, as follows:

Chair:Ms Peng Wenlan

Directors: Ms Li Chungwen, Ms Jo Hirst, Mr Michael Sheringham, Mr Danny Tsang.

Ms Wong Lai Sheung continues as our Administrator. Mr Hi Ching has generously volunteered his services as Cultural Coordinator (non-Board director) and will assist the society in its artistic and heritage-related endeavours. Mr Daniel Wang will act as Coordinator for Origin Eight, a newly formed club under the auspices of BBCN. Ms Jenny Hao will be his deputy.

 Last summer, the Meridian Society was a partner organisation at the BBC Silk Screens event at Leicester Square on July 19th. The event featured video shorts made by members of the Chinese community around the UK. In case you didn't have the chance to see them on the day or would like to view them again, we're pleased to announce that the videos will be shown on the Community Channel over the Chinese New Year on the following specific dates and times: You can find the Community Channel on Sky 539 • Virgin TV 233 • Freeview 87 (6-9am) and you can watch some of the output also on their website and check for scheduling information etc.

21 volunteers from the Meridian Society and BBCN took part in the London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Race on Sunday 8 June. It was a fantastic day and the team raised over £2,000 in sponsorship for the British Red Cross Sichuan Earthquake Appeal!
